House Tour: Four-room HDB resale flat in Serangoon with a white-and-wood palette

This 1,030sqf four-room HDB resale apartment in Serangoon has lots of white and wood tones that give the home a cosy vibe.

In the living room, interior designer Eloycois Er of Erstudio customised many built-in storage cabinets that extends from the length of the windows, to the TV console.

Overhead display shelves are added in the dining area, to showcase the homeowners' collection of Vodka bottles. As a space-saving feature, Eloycois designed a long bench along the wall that offers enough seats even when guests visit.

To allow cross ventilation while still having the flexibility of closing up the kitchen during heavy cooking, a sliding glass door separates this space from the rest of the home.

The galley kitchen has a sleek, seamless design, complete with full-height kitchen cabinetry in white, which offers sufficient storage for appliances, cutlery, tableware and other kitchen accessories.

In the bathroom, a warmer colour palette is chosen and this gives the space an intimate ambience.

Instead of a walk-in wardrobe, the bedroom next to the master has a built-in wardrobe that stretches the length of the room to offer sufficient storage space. Glass sliding doors help keep the room from feeling claustrophobic.

For added textures in the room, a concrete-look wall complements a wood-look headboard.

In the second bedroom, the design is kept simple, except for a study table in the corner, as well as overhead display shelves for the homeowner's knick knacks and collectibles.

The master bedroom has a wall cladded with a raw concrete-look finish and this adds a grungy, industrial look. To complement this is an exposed bulb pendant light that hangs next to the bed.

The $130,000 renovation transformed the home from an old, dreary space, into a refined, cosy apartment.
